Jefferson Hill Road Wickliffe, KY Tuesday, September 10, 2019 5:00 7:00 p.m., CDT Cairo High School 401 Sycamore Street Cairo, IL Preliminary engineering and environmental analysis are underway to improve cross river mobility between Wickliffe, Kentucky, and Cairo, Ilinois, by addressing safety and reliability issues caused by the narrow lane widths, lack of shoulders and tight curve on the existing U.S. 51 Ohio River "Cairo" Bridge and its approaches. In 2014, a planning study commissioned by KYTC recommended a preferred corridor for a new bridge immediately upstream of the existing U.S. 51 crossing. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain input from the public on the proposed project to assist in the decision-making process moving forward. KYTC seeks your input to gain an understanding of the important community and environmental resources. Handouts containing information about this project, comment sheets, and displays will be available at the meeting. The meeting will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation. Representatives from KYTC and their consultants will be available to answer questions. Written and oral comments will be accepted during the meeting. Written comments will be accepted and information made available, up to 15 days after the meeting at the KYTC District One Office address listed below. Individuals and organizations with a demonstrated interest in the undertaking may participate as consulting parties due to the nature of their legal or economic relation to the undertaking or affected properties, or their concern with the undertaking's affects on historic properties. KYTC has an online portal through which requests to participate as a consulting party in the Section 106 process for this project can be submitted (KYTC Consulting Party Projects Portal). Written and oral comments from this meeting will become a part of the official record for the project. Once compiled, the meeting record will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved.
