Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support classes teach you how to manage your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. The classes are taught by a trained diabetes educator. Four important times someone needs to see a diabetes educator is: 1. When newly diagnosed with prediabetes or diabetes 2. Annual assessment of education, nutrition and emotional needs 3. New complications that influence self-management 4.
